A Zonar Systems Case Study
Kootenai Electric Cooperative, the largest electric cooperative in Idaho, provides energy and disaster-response services to its communities. The utility struggled with manual, paper-based fleet inspections, logging and FEMA documentation, which made reimbursement for emergency work difficult and left the cooperative with limited visibility into crew locations, asset losses and operational efficiency.
KEC implemented Zonar’s 2010 EVIR inspections, V3 telematics and ZTrak equipment tracking to automate pre/post-trip reporting, monitor crews in real time, and precisely locate equipment. The technology immediately improved compliance and operational visibility—allowing KEC to track and reallocate assets during events, win mitigation funding to bury lines, recover nearly 75% of storm damage costs on a recent claim, and boost reimbursement recovery by nearly 100% within two years.
