Kanawha County School District improves school bus safety for 22,000+ students a day with Zonar

Kanawha County School District, a large public school district in West Virginia, faced the challenge of proactively enhancing fire safety across its fleet of buses transporting over 22,000 students daily. Seeking an economical and integrated solution, they partnered with vendor Zonar and utilized Kidde Technologies' Automatic Fire Sensing and Suppression Systems (AFSS) in combination with their existing Zonar smart fleet management platform.

The solution from Zonar integrated the Kidde AFSS to provide automatic fire suppression and real-time emergency alerts through the Zonar system. This gave dispatchers immediate notification of an incident, while Zonar's precise GPS enabled faster emergency response. The result was significantly increased safety, providing crucial extra evacuation time during a bus fire, alongside improved operational efficiency and parent communication through bus tracking.
