City of Glendale - Customer Case Study

The City of Glendale, AZ—serving a population of over 220,000—operates a 68‑vehicle sanitation fleet that moves roughly 140,000 tons of waste, drives about 900,000 miles and consumes over 320,000 gallons of fuel annually. Facing inspection compliance, efficiency and customer‑service challenges (including speeding and missed‑service disputes), the city sought a way to improve operations and reduce costs across its refuse collection and landfill teams.

Glendale implemented Zonar’s fleet management suite—EVIR® for automated pre/post‑trip inspections, V2J™ HD‑GPS and Ground Traffic Control®—and achieved measurable gains: a 4% drop in miles driven and 7% less fuel used in year one, better inspection compliance, reduced idling and disputes through geofencing and real‑time data, improved customer service and about 1,000 fewer miles driven annually by crew leaders, with ongoing ROI improvements.
