Central Kitsap School District wins $35,000 and digitizes routes with Zonar

Central Kitsap School District (CKSD) was facing challenges with an inefficient, paper-based routing system and aimed to improve driver recruitment and retention while demonstrating its commitment to safety. The district partnered with vendor Zonar Systems to implement its smart fleet management solutions, including Zonar Ground Traffic Control and the Zonar V4 TCU, in order to digitize operations and create a more driver-centric culture.

Zonar provided a comprehensive solution that included GPS tracking and digital routing via Samsung Galaxy tablets. This allowed for easier navigation, especially for substitute drivers, and provided objective data to exonerate drivers from parent complaints. The results included more accurate driver pay, higher driver recruitment and retention rates, and Zonar assisted the district in winning a $35,000 grant to help fund the hardware. CKSD also plans to implement Zonar MyView for parent bus tracking.
