Central Kitsap School District - Customer Case Study

Central Kitsap School District (Bremerton, WA) operates nearly 100 buses serving 8,000 students across 19 schools and more than 1.2 million miles a year. The district needed to move away from inefficient, paper-based routing that made substitute driving difficult, ensure accurate driver hours and pay, and demonstrate a commitment to safety and employee-focused culture to attract and retain drivers.

CKSD piloted and deployed Zonar’s telematics—Ground Traffic Control, V4 TCU, Samsung tablets with OnRoute, OnRoute Record, Zonar Access and EVIR Mobile—supported by a $35,000 grant and hands-on training. The digital system replaced printed routes, gave real-time GPS for parent inquiries and driver exoneration, improved pay accuracy and route management, boosted driver recruitment and retention, and set the stage for a future parent tracking app (MyView).
