Six Degrees Games - Customer Case Study

Six Degrees Games, Inc., an online sports entertainment publisher behind ActionAllstars.com, needed a reliable way to protect the rapidly growing stream of player data, avatars, credits, and virtual prizes generated by more than one million new avatars each month. To prevent data loss across its production systems, the company turned to Zmanda and its Zmanda Recovery Manager (ZRM) for MySQL backup and recovery.

Zmanda implemented ZRM to automate daily backups of three MySQL databases on CentOS Linux, including full backups plus incremental backups every 15 minutes for point-in-time recovery. The solution centralized backup management, simplified recovery steps, and compressed data at a 10:1 ratio to save disk space. Six Degrees Games also used Zmanda support, training, and consulting during deployment, and the company cited ZRM’s centralized management, browser-based console, compression, and reporting as key benefits.
