The National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) needed a cloud-based records management solution to archive Gmail content securely, improve end-user access, support FOIA and eDiscovery requests, and establish a records management standard other federal agencies could follow. ZL Technologies implemented a single-tenant cloud environment that captured Gmail email, calendar, task, and metadata content, enabling 100% capture while supporting the agency’s Capstone records management approach. The solution unified archiving, records management, and eDiscovery in one platform, reduced data silos and duplicates, and supported 5,300 mailboxes and more than 240 million messages with seamless growth over time, helping NARA handle records, non-records, FOIA, and legal search needs without an internal IT team.
