Zimbra Passes the Test for Gribbles Pathology Malaysia with a Combination of Network Edition and Open Source Edition Licenses

Gribbles Pathology Malaysia is one of the country’s largest private diagnostic laboratory providers, operating 40 electronically linked facilities and 33 labs that serve over 1.5 million patients annually. The company needed a secure, on‑premises email and collaboration platform that met strict privacy and SOE requirements—its previous hosted open‑source solution lacked SSL, strong authentication, and essential collaboration features like shared folders and calendars.

Gribbles deployed a unique coexistence of 225 Zimbra Network Edition and 350 Zimbra Open Source Edition mailboxes, allowing cost-effective tiering while retaining the ability to convert users between editions as needed. Implemented by its IT team with partner Novorient and integrated with Dell ESA and Zimlets for enhanced functionality, the solution delivered improved security, extensibility and unified collaboration across devices, with plans to add two‑factor authentication and encryption.
