A Zimbra Case Study
The State Government of Malaysia, a leading public sector organization, faced significant cybersecurity challenges with its legacy email system. The previous open-source setup had gaps in detecting modern threats like malware, ransomware, and sophisticated phishing campaigns, posing a major risk to government operations and public trust. This also placed a heavy operational strain on its Security Operations Centre team. To address this, the government turned to vendor Zimbra for a secure collaboration foundation.
The solution implemented by Zimbra was a three-layer partnership that also included Sorbsecurity and Mailhappen. It provided advanced anti-abuse and anti-phishing defense through centralized management, email security gateways, URL protection, and attachment protection. As a result, the new solution significantly reduced the workload for the SOC team and lowered the risk from ransomware, APT, and phishing attacks, allowing staff to focus on real threats.
