Oceano Moves from Google and Microsoft to Zimbra for On-Prem Security, Privacy and Lower TCO

Oceano SRL, an Italy-based e‑commerce and services provider with over 700 staff and offices across Italy and Albania, needed to replace a mixed Google Apps and Microsoft Outlook environment because customers demanded stronger on‑premises security and privacy controls, lower TCO, and a single, unified email platform.

Oceano deployed Zimbra Collaboration Server, migrating 200+ mailboxes to a unified interface and customizing scripts to control which users can send to specific domains. The move improved manageability on Linux servers and cut mailbox costs from €3.30 to €1.22 per month, while ongoing plans include migrating remaining staff and adding further security measures.
