Lafayette College Increases Mobile Collaboration for Students, Faculty and Staff

Lafayette College, a private liberal arts college in Easton, Pennsylvania serving about 2,400 undergraduates, needed to replace a legacy email system that could no longer support students, faculty and staff who demanded mobile access, personalized communication and robust calendaring. The college required an open-source solution that preserved security and privacy, offered a modern interface, and integrated easily with existing systems.

Lafayette implemented Zimbra Collaboration for its open-source code, security features and mobile sync capabilities, plus extensible Zimlets for features like calendar previews, click-to-call, video conferencing and task management. The result was a more reliable, modern webmail and calendaring experience, seamless device synchronization, increased collaboration across campus and more student–faculty contact time, improving the overall educational experience.
