Badan Pengusahaan Batam (BP Batam), the government agency overseeing Batam’s development, needed to replace an unsupported, PHP-based Workdesk email platform that lacked collaboration features. They required an on‑premise solution to ensure privacy, security, audit/compliance, integration with Oracle IDM, and to support a paperless, controlled communications environment for roughly 2,500 employees.

BP Batam migrated 2,500 users to Zimbra Collaboration Network Edition with local Zimbra Gold Partner P.T. Jabetto, gaining immediate document‑sharing via Zimbra Briefcase, consolidated email and contact access, and archiving for compliance and e‑discovery. The on‑premise deployment integrated with Oracle IDM, improved collaboration and efficiency, and set the stage for future mobile ActiveSync access and email encryption.
