JDM Innovation builds Smila Gen 2 over 3 years with Zigzag

JDM Innovation approached zigzag in 2022 seeking to completely re-create the software for its second-generation medication dispenser, Smila Gen 2. The challenge was to build a solid, scalable, and accessible platform from the ground up to serve multiple user groups, including elderly patients, care personnel, and support teams.

zigzag designed and developed the entire Smila Gen 2 ecosystem over a three-year partnership. The solution included a new WCAG AA-compliant design system, a patient dispenser interface, a web-based care personnel dashboard, a mobile app, and a support cloud platform. zigzag's work resulted in a robust, user-friendly medical product that streamlined medication management, patient monitoring, and device maintenance, ultimately aiming to provide higher quality care at home.
