Case Study: ASCO achieves real-time RFID asset tracking with Zetes

A Zetes Case Study

Preview of the ASCO Case Study

RFID for asset management within the complex industrial environment of Asco

ASCO, a leading manufacturer of high-precision steel and titanium aircraft components, needed a better way to manage more than 2,000 machining supports spread across five buildings. Its tool records were split across four unconnected databases, data was entered manually, and the company had trouble tracking tool location, maintenance status, and audit readiness. Zetes, through Zetes-RFiDea, was brought in to help with an RFID-based asset management approach.

Zetes implemented a robust RFID solution using durable UHF tags and a mix of fixed and portable readers, along with custom software modules for object creation, maintenance, and audits. The system automated tool tracking and made location updates available in real time, reducing losses and improving maintenance organization. ASCO can now generate audit lists much faster, and response times to customer requests improved from as long as a month and a half to less than 24 hours.
