Scapigliato, a waste management company owned by the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo in Tuscany, needed to improve monitoring of biogas generated at its plant. The company wanted to replace manual checks of wells spread across the site with a more efficient, safer system for remote monitoring and analytics. Zerynth provided the IoT technology and engineering services, including the 4ZeroBox and Zerynth OS.

Zerynth implemented a sensor network with microcontroller boards programmed in Python to collect CH4, O2, temperature, pressure, and humidity data from biogas wells and send it over LoRaWAN. The solution also included the Zerynth Device Manager and a custom web dashboard for performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and alerts. As a result, Scapigliato reduced monitoring time and maintenance costs, improved plant safety and efficiency, and reduced biogas release.
