A Zerto Case Study
HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE), the University of Hong Kong’s lifelong learning arm, needed to ensure high availability for critical admissions, e‑Learning and email systems—especially on Admissions Day—while running on legacy SAN hardware. Existing arrangements used separate tools for orchestration and replication, adding complexity and operational overhead, and SAN‑based replication limited the University’s ability to evaluate other storage platforms.
Following a quick PoC, HKU SPACE deployed Zerto Virtual Replication (ZVR) without changing its infrastructure, consolidating orchestration, automation and replication into a single pane of glass. ZVR reduced RPOs from hours to minutes and cut recovery time from up to a day to minutes, extended the life of existing hardware and gave the team the flexibility to evaluate disparate technologies.
