Zerto Keeps City of Tyler Blooming with IT Resilience

The City of Tyler, Texas — responsible for public safety, utilities and IT services for more than 100,000 residents and neighboring towns — experienced a multi-day outage after a software driver glitch showed nightly backups weren’t enough to protect critical applications. CIO Benny Yazdanpanahi needed a new disaster recovery approach that would ensure 24/7 access to data, support public safety and public works, and enable expansion of services beyond the city.

Tyler deployed Zerto with VMware to add continuous replication and fast recovery across three datacenters, protecting about 300 VMs (including 50 critical). The solution lets IT replicate and restore applications within seconds, enabled a near-instant rollback after an accidental wipe, simplifies VM migration and DR testing, helps meet audit requirements, and gives the city confidence to expand services and focus on innovation.
