A Zerto Case Study
Canadian Blood Services, the national organization that collects and manages blood, plasma, stem cells and tissues for millions of Canadians, needed to modernize its IT resiliency while avoiding disruption to critical services. The organization had to migrate more than 1,400 workloads (including nearly 700 VMware VMs) from two on‑site datacenters to two new co‑location sites in Toronto and Calgary, ensure each site could act as a recovery location for the other, and replace an outdated cold‑DR model that could take up to six days to restore services.
Using Zerto’s multi‑site replication and orchestration, Canadian Blood Services automated and executed a painless migration of VMware workloads and put in place a new resiliency model that continuously protects applications in both datacenters. The migration completed with significantly improved RPOs, seamless failover capability, and an RTO reduction from six days to about four hours, enabling fast recovery and ongoing availability of critical IT services.
