Case Study: Jacobs achieves streamlined SCIRT 3-Waters as-built surveys with Zerion Software using the iFormBuilder API

A Zerion Software Case Study

Preview of the Jacobs Case Study

Jacobs used Zerion to build 61 forms with 1,200 elements, streamlining the rebuilding process following New Zealand earthquakes

Jacobs, working with the SCIRT alliance in Christchurch, New Zealand, faced a large-scale as-built survey challenge across wastewater, stormwater and water supply networks (750 km of pipework and some 50,000 assets). They needed to create and maintain a complex digital schema — 61 forms with about 1,200 elements and 600 pick-list values — using the iForm app and the iFormBuilder API. To meet this need they engaged Zerion Software’s iFormBuilder API to standardize and automate form creation and data capture.

Using Zerion Software’s iFormBuilder API (called from FME and other HTTP clients), Jacobs automated schema-driven tasks: creating option lists, pages, subpages and elements, and logging option list, page and element IDs to an API creation log. The approach delivered a reproducible workflow that produced the required 61 forms and associated elements/pick-lists, supported capture of tens of thousands of assets, and reduced manual effort through scripted API calls and response tracking. Zerion Software’s API also highlighted areas for refinement (token lifetime, field name restrictions), leading the team to adopt testing, subset runs and API debugging for reliable deployment.
