Large Health System Connects 36 EMRs with Jiva™ HIE from ZeOmega®

Large Health System Company, a $4 billion health system with 10 hospitals, 3.5 million patients, and 6,000 affiliated physicians generating over 500,000 transactions per day, faced a major interoperability challenge: clinicians had to search 36 different EMR systems to assemble a complete patient record. Rather than rip-and-replace existing platforms, the organization sought a way to connect disparate systems and selected ZeOmega and its Jiva HIE to achieve true, scalable interoperability.

ZeOmega implemented Jiva HIE to connect all 36 EMRs, aggregate data into consolidated clinical documents (CCDA), provide single sign-on access through the health system’s IT platform, and push automated alerts and patient-portal access. As a result, clinicians can retrieve comprehensive patient records in seconds, reducing time spent searching for data, improving care coordination and patient engagement, lowering readmission risk, and positioning the organization to avoid regulatory penalties and qualify for Meaningful Use and ACO incentives—at a fraction of the cost of replacing EMRs.
