Ritchies Transport launches 11 electric buses in Dunedin with Zenobē

Zenobē partnered with Ritchies Transport, one of New Zealand's largest bus operators, to support the launch of Dunedin's first public electric buses. The challenge was to roll out 11 electric vehicles on a tight timeline while minimizing disruptive trenching work at the depot, as the infrastructure needed to be easily removable if their rental agreement was not renewed.

The solution implemented by Zenobē included the design and installation of six Hiconics 120kW chargers and above-ground cable trays to reduce trenching. Crucially, Zenobē provided a 16-year Battery-as-a-Service contract for 10 of the vehicles, guaranteeing battery performance and removing battery risk for the operator. The project was delivered safely, on time, and on budget, providing a foundation for the city's transition to zero-carbon public transport.
