Oxford Bus Company electrifies 104 buses with Zenobē

Oxford Bus Company, a local bus operator, faced the challenge of electrifying its fleet and redeveloping its depot at speed while remaining fully operational. With funding secured from the ZEBRA scheme, the company partnered with Zenobē to design and deliver the charging infrastructure and for long-term battery management.

Zenobē implemented a solution that included installing 52 dual-gun chargers powered by an 8MW private wire connection and signing a 15-year Battery-as-a-Service agreement. This allowed Oxford Bus Company to launch 104 electric buses, with each vehicle capable of driving up to 200 miles per day. The project, combined with a similar one for Stagecoach, enables 159 electric buses to operate in Oxford, significantly contributing to a more sustainable public transport system and improved local air quality.
