First Group Leeds electrifies 14 e-buses with Zenobē

First Group Leeds faced the challenge of electrifying its Hunslet Park depot with multiple types of electric buses from different manufacturers, including Yutong, Alexander Dennis/BYD, and Mellor. This required a versatile infrastructure and software solution that could work across all vehicle types. A further complication was the depot's limited grid import capacity, which restricted how many buses could be charged simultaneously.

Zenobē provided a manufacturer-agnostic smart charging software platform and financed all 14 e-buses and the charging infrastructure, transforming the capital expenditure into an operational cost. They also installed a 500kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to support charging during peak periods. This solution removed the technology risk for First Group Leeds and is projected to save approximately 1,308 tonnes of CO2 and 406 kg of NOx from entering the atmosphere annually.
