Aggregate Industries deploys 2 electric concrete mixers with Zenobē

Aggregate Industries, a subsidiary of Holcim, sought to expand its fleet with electric concrete mixers as part of its net zero journey. The challenge involved integrating the UK's first e-mixers, which required new charging infrastructure, type approval for the new vehicle configuration, and overcoming insufficient site earthing capacity.

Zenobē designed and installed a 120kW/h charging infrastructure to support the new e-mixers, enabling both overnight and opportunity charging. The solution included their proprietary software to monitor charging and provide operational data. This project successfully demonstrated the viability of heavy-duty electric vehicles for construction, allowing Aggregate Industries to service major projects like HS2 with reliable, zero-emission operations.
