City of Denton Waste Dept Improves Efficiency with Rugged Push-to-talk

The City of Denton Solid Waste and Recycling Department needed a more reliable push-to-talk communications solution for drivers, supervisors, and field crews working across collection routes with spotty 3G coverage. Their previous push-to-talk phones suffered from connectivity problems, especially in areas with no network coverage, making it difficult to stay in touch and respond quickly to customer issues.

Zello provided ZelloWork on rugged Kyocera DuraForce PRO devices, paired with Bluetooth push-to-talk speaker/microphones and supported by a desktop management console for user and group administration. The new setup delivered dramatically improved connectivity, clear audio, easier dispatching, and better real-time field visibility, while also lowering costs versus two-way radios; the department now uses ZelloWork across nearly all of its 130 staff members.
