The Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF) needed a better way to handle the huge volumes of plant image data generated by its experiments. Using Zegami’s image visualisation and analysis platform, APPF could quickly review large image sets, spot trends and outliers, and validate automated image analysis results that were difficult to assess at scale.

Zegami implemented a cloud-based workflow on Azure, with images stored in Azure Storage and processed through a custom engine on Azure Kubernetes Service, enabling new experiment data to be uploaded and analysed within minutes. The solution helped APPF identify issues such as lighting changes and RFID errors, avoid wasting days of unusable results, and achieve significant cost savings through faster quality control and earlier intervention.
