A Zebra Case Study
OmegaFlex, an international manufacturer of flexible metallic piping, faced bottlenecks and accuracy issues in its quality-control pressure-testing process. Operators shared a single centralized workstation to print labels, causing long waits, duplicate or unused labels, operator-selected wrong test parameters, and a limited tracking database that required frequent manual archiving.
Working with Integrated Productivity Systems and Seagull Scientific, OmegaFlex deployed 12 decentralized workstations using Zebra ZD400 desktop printers, BarTender labeling software, and a custom IPSi database/integration. The solution eliminated queues, produced a centralized audit trail, reduced data-entry errors, and improved throughput—testing speeds rose 20–50%, inspection department throughput increased 20%, and supervisors save roughly two hours each morning while product labeling and traceability became more professional.
