A Zebra Case Study
Parkland Health & Hospital System, one of the largest public hospital systems in the U.S., opened a new 2.8 million sq. ft. campus that nearly doubled its previous size and shifted care from a centralized to a decentralized model. The vast patient floors and lack of a central nurse station created major communication and workflow challenges, requiring a mobile-enabled solution to deliver timely alerts and coordinate clinicians across the facility.
After surveying staff, Parkland deployed Zebra MC40-HC devices with Workforce Connect Voice, giving nurses high-quality voice calls, secure texting, mobile alerts, wound imaging and hot‑swappable batteries in disinfectant-ready hardware. The solution enabled real-time communication and immediate access to patient information, improved tracking of patient activities and escalations, reduced redundant responses, and increased patient safety, care and satisfaction.
