Waterman Onions Achieves an Always-On View Over its Fast-Paced Logistics Operations

Waterman Onions, a Netherlands-based grower and processor shipping 150,000 tonnes of onions a year, faced rapid growth and stricter food-safety requirements while relying on paper-and-pen workflows. Manual unloading and labeling of more than 30 trucks a day and 11,000 crates made it hard to verify stock placement, slowed processing and increased compliance risk, so the company needed real-time visibility across its fast-paced logistics chain.

Waterman deployed a bespoke WMS (StoPro) with partner Actemium and a fleet of Zebra rugged Android devices and printers to digitize labeling, scanning and workflows. The paperless reception is already live, enabling faster, more accurate inbound processing, empowering staff, improving traceability and data capture for future ML-driven optimization, and ensuring long-term device security and predictable support costs.
