Walgreens’ Digital Transformation Takes Inventory Management to New Heights

Walgreens, a national drugstore chain serving about 8 million customers across roughly 9,560 stores and online, faced store-level inventory tools that couldn’t meet modern omnichannel expectations. A mix of legacy devices and manual, pen‑and‑paper workflows forced associates to hunt for products, tied managers to back‑office PCs, increased out‑of‑stocks and degraded customer service.

Walgreens rolled out Zebra ET50 tablets and TC51 handhelds with mobile inventory apps to provide real‑time visibility from the back office to the sales floor. Associates can now locate items, fulfill ship‑to‑home and click‑and‑collect orders from the aisle, run cycle counts and replenish stock on the spot—improving productivity, inventory accuracy and the shopper experience.
