Transforming the Grocery Experience for Today’s Digital-Savvy Shoppers

Schnuck Markets, a third-generation, family-owned grocery and pharmacy retailer with 115 stores, faced rising competition and operational friction from aging point-of-sale and in-store devices. Slow networks and frequent double-scans were lengthening checkout lines, limiting inventory visibility and pricing accuracy, and causing frustration for teammates and customers—so Schnucks set out to modernize checkout, inventory management and shelf labeling.

Schnucks deployed Zebra’s MP7000 imagers, DS8178 scanners, TC20/TC51/TC70 mobile computers and QLn320 mobile printers and built a “ShelfMan” app to manage products from receiving to sale. The upgrade enabled GS1/2D barcode support and on‑the‑spot ordering and tag printing, resulting in faster checkouts, improved inventory accuracy, professional shelf tags, fewer rescans and higher employee and customer satisfaction.
