Toyota Material Handling Uses Zebra MotionWorks Enterprise to Boost Productivity

Toyota Material Handling, a large industrial equipment manufacturer in Columbus, Indiana, needed real-time product visibility across a quarter of its 1.3 million sq. ft. plant to support just-in-time delivery and the Toyota Production System principles. The facility’s dense steel structure, loud machinery and complex conveyor and assembly lines made tracking parts and finished trucks (about 180/day) difficult, creating risks of misplacement and workflow disruptions that had to be resolved without disrupting existing systems.

Toyota partnered with Zebra for an on-site MotionWorks Enterprise discovery workshop, a tailored blueprint and a seamless implementation using Zebra MotionWorks Enterprise, 400+ UWB tags and 60 RFID sensors integrated via existing APIs. The deployment automated root-cause analysis of flow disruptions, streamlined workflows, increased employee productivity, improved response times and customer service, and is now being extended to cover broader production, parts delivery and distribution.
