Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology Helps Create “Google Maps” Style Visibility for the Factory

G3 Boats, a Missouri-based recreational boat manufacturer, needed “Google Maps” style visibility into its production to replace time-consuming manual tracking that required workers to walk the shop floor to find hulls and update systems. Facing labor shortages and a tech-savvy workforce that expects intuitive tools, the company sought real-time insight into work orders, faster bottleneck detection, and fewer manual data-entry tasks.

Working with Zebra and ISV partner Xemelgo, G3 Boats deployed an RFID solution that automatically captures passive-tag data via Zebra readers and printers and feeds it into Xemelgo’s Work Order and Inventory Management systems. The map-style dashboard and alerts now show each boat’s location and status in real time, reducing manual work, improving coordination and just-in-time inventory, increasing productivity, and enabling faster problem resolution across both factories.
