Portuguese Electricity Producer Deploys Zebra Touch Computers And Tablets With Neptune Software To Improve Operational Efficiency

EDA (Electricidade dos Açores), the electricity producer for the Azores, needed to replace paper-based and office-bound processes with real-time mobile data capture for its geographically dispersed field, maintenance and warehouse teams, with seamless integration into SAP. Working with long-term partner Neptune Software, EDA sought a solution that would speed up updates from the islands, improve data accuracy and support both direct and subcontracted crews.

EDA deployed Zebra mobile devices (TC57/TC56 touch computers, MC33/MC330K mobile computers and ET55 tablets) running bespoke Neptune applications that upload data to SAP, scan barcodes and capture photos over a reliable wireless network. The rollout delivered significant time savings, higher operational efficiency and data accuracy, strong user adoption, progress on EDA’s digital transformation and a reduced environmental footprint from less travel and paperwork.
