Paracelsus-Kliniken, a network of 37 hospitals and clinics across Germany, faced fragmented IT and procurement systems that relied on phone, paper and spreadsheets. This "data chaos" left sites with no consistent purchasing process, poor visibility of consumption and inventory, frequent manual errors and limited cost control—creating inefficiencies across clinical, warehouse and finance teams.
Working with COMED and deploying a cloud-based, groupwide materials management platform plus a custom Android app on Zebra TC21/TC26/TC52 mobile computers, Paracelsus standardized ordering, barcode scanning and real‑time data exchange with its HIS and suppliers. Rolled out in 15 months, the solution delivered ROI in under a year, halved procure-to-pay times, cut ancillary ordering costs by five figures, saved about 90 minutes per day across key areas, reduced inventory checks from two days to under four hours, and improved accuracy, transparency and strategic purchasing.
