Case Study: KINE Robotics reduces conveyor tracking costs with Zebra's Aurora Design Assistant

A Zebra Case Study

KINE Robotics reduces conveyor tracking costs by 75% with Zebra

KINE Robotics Oy, a Finnish provider of custom turnkey robotics solutions, faced the challenge of developing a conveyor tracking system to accurately pick transparent bags of bread and rolls of various shapes and sizes for an industrial bakery. The low contrast and reflective nature of the packaging made detection with optical sensors difficult. Zebra's Aurora Design Assistant software, implemented with a Basler Blaze 101 3D Time-of-Flight camera, was selected as the solution to overcome these obstacles.

The solution from Zebra eliminated the need for separate lighting and a multi-camera system, creating a more streamlined and efficient process. This implementation resulted in a 75% reduction in overall costs compared to traditional camera and lighting options. The system also achieved a lower error rate and higher throughput of goods, enabling efficient picking and placing without damaging the bread or its packaging.
