Keells, part of the John Keells Group, operates over 130 supermarkets in Sri Lanka with around 5,000 staff and a marketplace of some 700 suppliers. Facing long checkout queues, abandoned carts and the need to free associates for higher‑value tasks, Keells sought technology to improve shopper satisfaction, speed up purchases and make promotions more accessible in‑store.
Keells partnered with Crosspoint Business Solutions to deploy Zebra’s PS20 Personal Shopper Series—more than 160 devices across ten stores—enabling customers to scan items as they shop via touchscreen and hands‑free cart scanning. Adoption has improved checkout speed and in‑store engagement, reduced associate workload, increased operational efficiency and given Keells a secure, future‑ready device platform with ongoing OS support.
