Italian Steel Sheet Producer Uses Zebra Touch Computers For Efficient Inbound Scrap Material Classification

AFV Acciaierie Beltrame, a long-established Italian steel producer, needed a faster, more reliable way to classify incoming scrap metal. Their legacy PDAs and manual collation caused delays and administrative overhead across plants handling up to 200 trucks daily, so they engaged Soluzione 1 to create a future-proof, robust solution that would deliver real-time, accurate inbound material data.

Soluzione 1 deployed Zebra TC70 touch computers running a bespoke Xamarin Android app (built with Zebra’s EMDK) that lets operators scan truck ID badges, classify scrap, add notes and photos, and send data via Wi‑Fi to a web-based management module. The result: quicker, more efficient audits, real-time reporting and traceability, improved quality control and supplier communication, and durable devices that support gloved use and long shifts with no returns reported.
