Iperal Makes Shopping a Breeze for Italian Customers Thanks to Zebra’s Scan As You Shop System

Iperal Supermercati is an Italian supermarket and hypermarket chain with 53 stores and about 4,100 employees, focused on customer-centric, sustainable retail. Facing growing customer demand for self-scanning and needing to ease resource pressures during peak hours, Iperal sought a technology solution to improve store operations, speed up shopping and boost overall customer satisfaction.

Working with Zebra and partner BarWare, Iperal deployed Zebra PS20 Personal Shoppers, CC6000 Customer Concierge kiosks and VisibilityIQ remote device management in 21 stores (about 40% of its estate), with 96 terminals per fitted shop. Shoppers register at a kiosk, unlock a PS20 with their loyalty card and scan items as they shop—resulting in faster, more convenient shopping, reduced employee workload during rushes, increased customer loyalty and better allocation of staff to higher‑value service; further rollouts are planned.
