KINE Robotics Oy, a Finnish provider of custom turnkey robotics solutions, was asked to automate conveyor tracking and on‑the‑fly picking of irregularly shaped, variably sized and transparently packaged bread products for an industrial bakery. The transparent plastic and low contrast/reflections made optical detection difficult, and the prior manual process was error‑prone and inefficient.

KINE implemented Aurora Design Assistant with a Basler Blaze 101 3D Time‑of‑Flight camera, integrated with a Stäubli SCARA robot and PLC/encoder synchronization, using recipe‑based flowcharts to handle product variants. The ToF camera removed the need for external lighting and multiple cameras; the system achieved a 75% reduction in vision costs versus traditional camera/lighting setups, lowered error rates, sustained gentle handling, and increased throughput to about 25–30 packages per minute.
