German Supermarket Chain Modernises Its Systems With Zebra Technologies

Feneberg Lebensmittel GmbH is a family-owned regional supermarket chain in southern Germany with over 4,000 employees. To improve customer service and reduce checkout queues, Feneberg set out to modernize its POS systems after staff repeatedly had to search for and precisely align barcodes or manually key damaged or poorly printed codes, which slowed transactions and increased wait times.

Working with partner IT-Informatik, Feneberg installed Zebra MP6000 multi-plane 1D/2D imagers (with integrated Mettler Toledo scales), DS4208 handheld 2D imagers and DS9208 omnidirectional presentation imagers. The new scanners deliver fast, accurate reads—including damaged labels and smartphone-displayed barcodes—boost staff productivity, shorten queues, and provide a durable, easy-to-use, modular solution that integrates with future hardware and minimizes downtime.
