Firefighters Credit Zebra Rugged Tablets with Improving Safety and Accountability On-Site

Northern Lakes Fire District responds to more than 4,600 emergency calls each year and provides all-hazard response for 42,000 residents across more than 105 miles of lakes, mountains, prairies and cities. Commanders needed a more reliable way to monitor their crew’s movements—pen and paper, dry-erase boards and passport tags proved unreliable—so Zebra and BATT3, a software developer specializing in solutions for first responders, were challenged with helping the Northern Lakes Fire District find a new, more effective way to track emergency personnel.

BATT3 (Battalion Software) and Zebra developed a combined software and hardware solution by integrating Batt3ICx with the Zebra XSLATE R12 rugged tablet (Zebra Xplore XSLATE 12), and after extensive testing the District deemed it reliable for mobile personnel monitoring. Using Batt3ICx and the Zebra XSLATE R12, the Northern Lakes Fire District has maintained 100% crew accountability and improved firefighter safety on scene.
