A Zebra Case Study
Wavin, a Dutch B2B manufacturer of plastic pipe systems founded in 1955 and part of Orbia, operates in 40+ countries and sought to modernize its Hardenberg warehouse scanning hardware. Its decade-old Zebra MC9090 devices were at end-of-life, with small screens, hard-to-read Telnet green-screen text and fragile ring-scanner cables, so Wavin wanted rugged 2D Android scanners with large touchscreens, optional keyboards, Bluetooth ring imagers and reliable connectivity.
Working with long-term partner Actemium, Wavin deployed a complete Zebra solution — TC52s, MC9300s, VC8300s, RS507 ring imagers, DS3678 handhelds, printers and accessories — plus Zebra LifeGuard, StageNow and SOTI MobiControl, and migrated to Ivanti Velocity for full-screen touch interfaces. The centrally managed, preconfigured devices delivered faster, more reliable 1D/2D scanning, better battery life and Wi‑Fi, strong user adoption thanks to ergonomic design and larger screens, quicker picking and simplified IT management; other European Wavin sites are now planning rollouts.
