DPD Austria, a leading parcel carrier, faced challenges from the surge in online shopping, as customers needed more flexible pick-up and drop-off options. Their existing network of partner parcel shops relied on manual, paper-based processes that were slow and error-prone. To expand this network and improve service, they partnered with vendor Zebra Technologies for an automation solution.

Zebra implemented a solution using its TC2 Series mobile computers and ZD400 Series desktop printers in each shop, integrated with bespoke software. This allowed shop staff to process parcels quickly and accurately, with real-time data transfer. As a result, DPD Austria tripled its number of pickup parcel shops, reduced delivery costs, and increased customer satisfaction. The speed of parcel processing improved to an average of 20 seconds per package.
