DPD Austria Accelerates the Processing of Parcels, Triples its Parcel Shop Network

DPD Austria, part of Geopost and a leading parcel carrier shipping over 61 million parcels annually and operating roughly 1,800 pickup locations, needed to scale and modernize its partner parcel shops. Existing paper-based, manual processes were slow, error-prone and made real-time tracking and expansion difficult, so DPD sought to simplify and accelerate shop operations to improve customer convenience and encourage more retailers to join the network.

DPD rolled out Zebra TC26 mobile computers with ZD420/ZD421 printers, Zebra OneCare protection, SOTI MobiControl and ITPRO’s bespoke Paketshop software (about 2,400 devices and 900 printers deployed) with training and remote management. The solution cut average parcel processing to ~20 seconds, enabled real-time tracking and payments, tripled the number of pickup shops, increased customer satisfaction, reduced redelivery costs and generated additional revenue for partner shops—prompting DPD to explore wider use of Zebra technology.
