Cargus, Dynamic Romanian Courier Company, Turns to Digital Technology to Enhance Customer Service

Cargus is one of Romania’s largest courier companies, operating five sorting hubs, 45 warehouses, over 900 SHIP & GO points and a 5,000-strong workforce including 2,450 couriers. Faced with a surge in e-commerce (a 20% increase in 2021 and continued growth ahead), Cargus needed to replace retiring mobile devices and build a future-ready platform that gives customers real-time visibility, the ability to divert deliveries “in flight,” and enables couriers to capture more data and accept card payments while on the road.

Working with Smart ID, Cargus deployed Zebra TC57 rugged Android handhelds with Zebra OneCare Select, LifeGuard for Android and SOTI MobiControl, plus a bespoke mobile app and NFC payment integration. The solution delivered continuous GPS tracking, improved first‑time delivery rates and customer transparency, faster courier onboarding and higher productivity, and the scalability to handle peak volumes like Black Friday while boosting customer satisfaction and loyalty.
