Research-based biopharmaceutical company extends secure network to 76 sites with Zayo

A research-based biopharmaceutical company faced the challenge of integrating a newly acquired company's IT network into its own. The goals were to improve network resilience, lower operating costs, and avoid IT staff layoffs. The company turned to vendor Zayo to extend its existing Zayo Wavelengths and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) solution to 76 new global edge locations.

Zayo implemented a solution using point-to-multipoint EVPLs, leveraging spare capacity and adding network-to-network interfaces to extend the secure backbone. This provided improved network diversity, higher availability, and lower latency. The solution consolidated IT into existing data centers, significantly reducing operating costs. These savings allowed the customer to retain all of the acquired company's IT staff, resulting in no layoffs.
