Preview of the Pac-12 Networks Case Study

Pac-12 Networks saves millions and automates 85–95% of scheduling with Zayo

Pac-12 Networks, a sports-oriented digital media network, faced the challenge of reducing the high costs of its traditional on-site production model for live sports broadcasts. They needed a reliable, high-bandwidth, and low-latency connectivity solution to enable a new remote production model where raw video feeds from venues could be streamed to a central facility in San Francisco. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Zayo.

Zayo implemented a solution using its Wavelengths, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), and Dark Fiber services. This infrastructure provided the necessary reliable and scalable connectivity to transport live video from remote sports venues to the central production hub. The results for Pac-12 Networks were significant, including multimillion-dollar aggregate savings from eliminating on-site production trucks, increased margins, and the ability to automate 85-95% of its scheduling. Zayo's network enabled Pac-12 Networks to pioneer and successfully operate its distributed production model.
