News UK, publisher of The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sun, faced failing backups, limited backup windows and an aging tape-based infrastructure that could not scale with growing data needs. The company sought a scalable, elastic, OpEx-based storage-as-a-service solution and selected Zadara Storage, deploying the Zadara Storage VPSA Storage Array as an as-a-service model to replace legacy backup systems.

Zadara Storage implemented VPSA across Equinix data centers to provide single-process replication and protect 1PB of data, while eliminating much of the legacy hardware and maintenance. The Zadara Storage deployment simplified operations, freed IT staff for higher-value work, supported future growth and delivered measurable results — complete replication for 1PB and overall cost reductions of more than 30% as part of News UK’s broader Data Consolidation Project.
