Moonami, a provider of hosting and support for Moodle and other open-source learning platforms, faced costly, time-consuming management of aging GlusterFS storage and needed faster, more flexible backup and recovery to support growth. They selected Zadara Storage’s Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) and Backup to S3 (B2S3) to replace GlusterFS and meet their agility and recovery requirements.

Zadara Storage implemented VPSA attached to Moonami’s AWS compute plus B2S3 for continuous, incremental snapshot backups, enabling hourly restores and minute-level recoveries. The switch cut storage management time by about 50% (~20 hours/week), lowered storage costs by 45%, improved RPO/RTO, and gave Moonami elastic, OpEx-based capacity scaling and vendor-agnostic restore flexibility.
